Here is some concept work for Marvel for the Noir version of Venom.
This Venom lacks the traditional symbiote, as those elements do not exist in the Noir Universe. Instead, Ed Brock is Norman "The Goblin" Osborn's resident Gris-Gris, a type of voodoo practioner. Going back to the warehouse where he deduces the broken statue of the Spider God that gave Spider-Man his powers had fallen, Brock searches for and captures one of the Spider-God's spiders. After several rituals and milking the spider of a substantial amount of venom, Brock drinks the venom, gaining the same powers as Spider-Man, henceforth calling himself Venom. His costume stems from his obsession to not only kill Spider-Man, but to replace him. He has outfitted his gloves with metal claws, and a new Spider symbol for his jacket. His powers are roughly identical to SPider-Man's, but his larger size allows him to overpower the web-slinger.
